About The Event

Think “Inside the Actor’s Studio” meets “College Game Day” with some extra fun, philanthropy and athlete education mixed in. Celebrating, sharing and updating our audiences, Director/Executive Producer Susan Sember and her special guests will give you a behind the scenes look into the film production. They will also discuss the mission behind the documentary, host intimate and impactful conversations and preview some of the film’s sneak peaks. Add in a splash of awards, entertainment and giveaways!

Due to the ongoing pandemic affecting everyone across the world, we are hosting this first online event in advance of the premiere of our film, Beyond The Game. Now more than ever, we also believe “Beyond the Game” is a necessity in this unprecedented time of sports, education and service. We invite you to join us.

Susan Sember

Executive Producer, Director & Writer for “Beyond the Game”; Attorney in Sports

As a seasoned filmmaker and former entertainment and sports law attorney, Susan Sember is the Executive Producer and Director for “Beyond the Game”. For over 20 years, Susan has created, from concept to distribution, award winning films that have traveled to 52 countries. She has partnered with numerous corporations, educational institutions, governmental entities and nonprofits to effectively collaborate through the art of film as a platform for outreach, cause marketing, and branding. As a producer and director, Susan has been a presenter and shown her films at such recognized festivals as the Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival, Sarasota Film Festival and Santa Barbara International Film Festival. Three of her films have been previewed at the United Nations. Since the inception of “Beyond the Game”, Susan has been called upon to present to sports organizations regarding an athlete’s transitions and has published four magazines on related topics, as well. She has authored, “Beyond the Game: The Official Film Companion”, which will be released with the documentary. As founder of Silverlight Films, Susan will commercially distribute “Beyond the Game” through theaters. broadcast, VOD and other. With over 600 hours of footage, a Peer to Peer Education program will also provide student athletes, pro athletes and retired athletes impactful content in accompaniment to the film. Over 80 colleges, universities and schools have signed up for the “Beyond the Game” college tour. Susan is a proud alum of the University of Michigan, mother of a precocious golden retriever puppy and lives in Malibu, California.

Jonathan Miller

Producer for “Beyond the Game”; CPA and President of SFAA

Jonathan Miller, a native of Los Angeles, California, currently resides in Paradise Valley, Arizona. He has over 30 years’ experience as a Certified Public Accountant in business and tax services. Through his consulting services, Jonathan is able to integrate his four core capabilities: strategic business planning, corporate structure, tax planning and compliance to provide you or your business with solutions that fit your specific need. Jonathan is also experienced working with CEO’s, Professional Athletes and Entertainers as a Business Manager. Over the past 30 years Jonathan’s commitment to education of student and professional athletes has grown to include a 501c(3) Non Profit, the Just One Project; a 501c(6) organization, The Sports Financial Advisors Association; the founding of StarCross Management, LLC, a sports and entertainment management company; and associate production of a full length documentary “Beyond The Game.” Jonathan is also a Certified Financial Education Instructor with the National Financial Educators Council. His goal is to ensure that athlete financial disasters are mitigated and eliminated.

Director of Strategic Initiatives, Symphony

Jodi McLean is the Director of Strategic Initiatives for Symphony, a healthcare communications agency in St. Petersburg, FL. As the growth catalyst for Symphony, she has a keen eye for identifying and aligning with key partners and growth-focused healthcare organizations looking to scale and meet the current demands of patient-centric healthcare. Jodi is a Michigan native, University of Michigan graduate and mega-fan, and a happy Florida beach resident since 1997. Her personal brand is that of an Intrapreneur, published author, personal branding expert, business pitching aficionado, partnership builder, multimedia producer, and TV/radio specialist with over 25 years of broadcast and marketing experience. Tony Armer

Founder, Sunscreen Film Festival; Film Commissioner, St. Petersburg Clearwater, Florida

Tony Armer is an Award Winning Filmmaker, the Founder of the internationally acclaimed Sunscreen Film Festival and the Film Commissioner for St. Petersburg Clearwater, Florida. He has been Producing, Directing, Writing, and creating Film, TV, corporate and digital media content since 1997. Tony studied communications at the University of Toledo, he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BA in Business Management from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, FL and an MFA in Motion Pictures and Television from Academy of Art University in San Francisco, CA. He has also taught film as an adjunct professor at the Art Institute of Tampa and the University of Tampa.

Rob Higgins

Executive Director, Tampa Bay Commission

Rob Higgins has been the Executive Director of the Tampa Bay Commission since 2004. Higgins primary responsibility is to promote the development of community sports in the Tampa Bay area, as well as leading the Sports Commission as the principal organization that bids on and hosts sports and entertainment events in Tampa Bay and Hillsborough County. In the 15 years Higgins has held his position, Tampa Bay has successfully hosted and/or been awarded the a long list of events. He was named to Tampa Bay Business Journal’s 30 under 30 list and theTampa Bay Times named Higgins as one of the top 10 difference makers in the Tampa Bay area.

Nick Lowery
Author, Poet, Teacher, Philanthropist and Former Presidential Aide; NFL Alumnus and Hall of Fame Nominee
Nick Lowery transcends stereotypes. Hall of Fame athlete, Ivy League scholar, 3-time Presidential aide, Author, Poet, Teacher, Philanthropist, he has been featured on ABC’s 20/20, World News Tonight, Nightline with Ted Koppel, HBO, David Letterman twice, Sports Illustrated, the Washington Post and the New York Times. A Harvard MPA, Nick worked for both President George HW Bush and President Bill Clinton in the White House Office of National Service. Nick was inducted into the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame in 2009 as the most accurate kicker in NFL History, with the most field goals in NFL History when he retired from the NFL. Nick founded Champions for the Homeless 14 years ago, supporting St. Vincent De Pauls, comprising 50 super events bringing a human face to the homeless in Phoenix. He is featured in the recent movie “Think and Grow Rich: The Legacy”. Finally, Nick is the national spokesman and Sports Director for Kannaway. In 2019, Nick was winner of the Steinberg-DeNicola Super Bowl Humanitarian Award, the American Cancer Society’s Pillar of Excellence Award, the Arizona Interfaith Movements’ foremost Golden Rule Award, and is the 2019 CNBC Stock Draft Winner (beating last year’s winner, Shark Tank’s Kevin O’Leary by 40%!), and this month was nominated for the NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame. Nick’s lifetime of work is dedicated to inspiring everyone to tap into their finest God-given abilities, aligning their life with a beautiful, focused purpose! Nick was 5 times NFL Man of the Year for both the Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets. He is the winner of the NFL Player Association’s foremost humanitarian award, the Justice Byron Whizzer White award, the US Jaycees’ “Ten Outstanding Young Americans Award” (also won by Elvis and JFK), and the National Community Service Award from United Cerebral Palsy for his work with at risk and disabled youth.

Marshall Faulk
Associate, Virtuity Financial Partners; NFL Alumnus and Hall of Famer
Marshall Faulk is a former American college and professional football player who was a running back in the National Football League (NFL) for thirteen seasons. He played college football for San Diego State University, and was a three-time All-American. Has a BA in Business Marketing. Faulk is one of only three NFL players to reach at least 10,000 rushing yards and 5,000 receiving yards; he is the only one to amass 12,000 yards rushing and 6,000 yards receiving. He was selected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2011. He also worked as a pro football analyst for NFL Total Access, Thursday Night Football, and NFL GameDay Morning on NFL Network. In 1999 he purchased 8 Popeyes franchises that he grew to 22 location in a 5-year span. In 2000 he helped launch Midwest elevators which serviced the cities of Indianapolis & St Louis. Handling the contracts of all the government buildings in both cities Midwest became the #1 service provider in both cities. In 2003 he partnered with his agent Rocky Arceneaux who owned Edge sports to form the Alliance Management Group which represents athletes in football, baseball and basketball. In 2005 he opened Gr8 Cutz the first male spa in San Diego. Offering men the opportunity to be groomed and pampered like a king. In 2015 he started T & M Urban Ventures which step up to the fore front by providing better housing conditions for low income families in San Diego’s inner city with the rehabilitation of old homes. Now an associate at World Financial Group he is the quickest to open up his own office. He also helps secure deals with NFL Alumni, Pro Football Hall of Fame and San Diego State University. Also using the platform to help educate many kids in the various communities he has lived. His motto in business is FAITH FAMILY BUSINESS!!

Argyro Christodoulides
Music composer & Songwriter (Films, TV, Video Games)
Argyro Christodoulides (a.k.a Argy) is a Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London) graduate. Since 2005 she has been working as a freelance composer and her list of works includes music and songwriting for award winning international feature and short films, TV series, video games and other media. She received Best original score nomination from St Kilda Film Festival in Australia, composed music for the National Geographic’s video games, for Discovery ID, FOX channel, CBS2, BBC2, VH1, award winning animations, works for orchestras, theatre productions and TV commercials. Some of her classical works are published by Billaudot Publishing House, Paris (France). Argy is also a published singer/songwriter in the US and her songs so far received placements in well known TV series on CBS2 channel. Every year since 2017 she is invited to participate as an expert judge on the ESC (Eurovision Song Contest) jury panels of Switzerland and Germany for the selection of songs and artists. In 2019 Argy was nominated Musician of the Year by the Madame Figaro awards.

Matt Dodge

Financial Professional, Author, Former NFL Player
Matt Dodge was drafted in 2010 to the New York Giants where he went on to have the highest punting average in New York Giants historian his rookie season. After football, Matt moved back to Eastern North Carolina where he resides with his wife and son. Matt runs a financial planning practice where he helps his clients make the transition from their working years to retirement and he wrote his book “Halftime Shift: Understanding the Money Game in the Second Half of Life.” He is passionate about his Faith, his Family, and helping people in their own money games as well as help athletes and entrepreneurs leverage the platform they have through their respective sports.

Jarvis Johnson

Educational Sports-Related Entrepreneur and Producer of “Beyond the Game Film”

Jarvis Johnson is a current Educational Sports Entrepreneur and a producer of “Beyond the Game Film”. Jarvis is a native of Miami, Florida and former professional NFL athlete playing for the Baltimore Ravens in 2005. The NFL days of business, team leadership, mentoring and world-class excitement motivated Johnson both on and off the field. He completed his BA in Administration of Justice from Rutgers University and obtained his Master of Science in Counseling from Tiffin University while being in one of the NFL Coaching Internship programs. By 2009, Jarvis transitioned into the NCAA market of Coaching. He coached at Clark Atlanta University, Kean University, and held many roles at the University of Miami from 2014-17. He loves to say, “I played for a purpose and coach for the future.” By 2018, Coach J had been coaching for 5 years, served as an Academic Counselor, and obtained his Finance Certificate from the University of Miami. He also attended several NFL/NFLPA programs, worked with over 700+ Professional Athletes, and was profiled by the NFL Communications & Public Affairs Daily News. His company, Connect the Gap, designs non-traditional style educational workshops, seminars, programs, and services for the Sports Industry and College/Universities.

JEFF HOFFMAN

Global Entrepreneur, Music & Film Producer, Philanthropist

Jeff Hoffman is an award-winning global entrepreneur, proven CEO, worldwide motivational speaker, bestselling author, Hollywood film producer, a producer of a Grammy winning jazz album, and executive producer of an Emmy Award winning television show. In his career, he has been the founder of multiple startups, he has been the CEO of both public and private companies, and he has served as a senior executive in many capacities. Jeff has been part of a number of well-known successful startups, including Priceline.com/Booking.com, uBid.com and more. Patrick Steenberge

Founder, Global Football

Patrick Steenberge founded Global Football in 1996, and since then has provided educational sports travel experiences for student athletes, coaches and supporters in 28 countries on 6 continents. He produced the first college football game ever played on the continent of Africa, partnered with the NFL to manage 11 Super Bowl tournaments for international athletes. Patrick utilizes his Spanish-speaking ability to organize events in Latin America and to motivate Hispanic entrepreneurs. He authored the book, Tupande Kileleni, an account of the 2011 Global Tanzania Bowl, which serves as the basis for his lively public presentations. Patrick is a University of Notre Dame graduate, 2-year football letterman as Quarterback under Ara Parseghian, and first visited Texas to play in the 1971 Cotton Bowl game. Born and raised in Erie, Pa., he moved his family to Granbury, Tx. in 1986. He and his wife, Janet, a Texas Hall of Fame Swim coach, are blessed with three grown children. Currently Patrick also serves as Senior Advisor for Zoono Protect America, a protective sanitizing solution to Covid-19. His life mottos include ‘Adjust with Poise’, and ‘We have no Breaking Point’.

Crystal Begley is a global advisor to leaders, CEOs, Founders, Actors, Artists, Start-Ups and Specialty Individuals who require specialized coaching and personalized advice to achieve the highest level of results in their area of expertise both professionally and in their personal life. She also serves as a strategist for start-up businesses & entrepreneurs and is a Real Estate Consultant for family and generational wealth, as well as became a licensed agent in California in 2016 at the Nationally acclaimed Commercial Investments brokerage Lee & Associates and became a member of the Berzack Investment Property Advisors. Since 2016 she regularly sits on panels to advise companies pitching to investors and looking to hire key personnel. Brandon Copeland

Entrepreneur; Founder of Beyond the Basics, Inc.; Professor at University of Pennsylvania; NFL Linebacker for the New England Patriots

 Brandon Copeland is a husband, father, son, brother, believer of Christ, entrepreneur and a linebacker for the NFL’s New England Patriots. Copeland is from Baltimore, MD and now lives in New Jersey. He graduated with a degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Pennsylvania before going on to owning and operating two real estate companies and a nonprofit organization, Beyond the Basics, with his wife Taylor. This offseason he entered into his second year as an Ivy League professor at his alma mater, teaching “Life 101” about financial literacy and the constants of life.

For the Beyond the Game Film “Conversations & Cinema” July 23rd Event, we will have the distinguished honor to stage and use the AFCA Amway National Championship Trophy through the gracious support of Amway.

The American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Coaches’ Trophy presented by Amway is awarded to the National Champion and No. 1 team in the Amway Coaches Poll at the end of each CFB season.
